I *think* my problem is that my default PC login username is also admin, like the NAS box default (which I haven't changed). It only seems to work the first time the printer is set up using 'Add Printer', during which it prompts for username and password to log in to the NAS.ĭoes anyone know what/where access rights are imposed on the printer service, or more improtantly whether they can be turned off? The next day I got 'Printer not found on server, unable to connect' reported in the Printers and Faxes window (XP)Ĭhecked /var/log/log.smbd, it looked like Samba problems communicating back to the PC.ĭeleted the printer and the printer port and re-installed, printing workedīut on a restart of the PC it no longer works ![]() ![]() The first time I set the printer up, I was able to print the document I wanted to print without any trouble.
